The fundamental elements of the retreat are found in its passionate staff, two of Asia's most authentic and unique Hammams, Spa treatments that range from relaxing facials to deeply stimulating body treatments and Hammam therapies, healthy cooking classes and physical activities that incorporate aspects such as the jungle gym.
MesaStila offers a distinct Javanese flavor – with Pencak Sila*t; Java-coffee scrubs using coffee from its own plantation, Javanese food with a healthy twist; an immersion to the healthy-healing garden and the service of local practitioners who offer traditional healing - from Jamu to Javanese massage.
Nine hundred meters above the plains of Central Java, MesaStila been created as a labor-of-love by its various owners over the years. Their aim is to create a place of sustainable wellness that becomes an attitude and a culture - where the environment 'offers' and the people 'believe'. The property includes such relics as a Colonial-era railway station from the 1860’s, the prior residence of a Javanese Prince and the original plantation owner’s house from 1828; all surrounded by coffee trees that have been grafted and grown from the original Robusta-Arabica plants nearly two hundred years ago. Losari is a historical, cultural and wellbeing masterpiece!

The Hammam Spa
With the perfect balance of ancient and contemporary healing traditions, MesaStila brings you the finest therapies from Asia and the Near East. The Indonesian Archipelago has a long history of contact between Chinese and Arab traders, who introduced plants, herbs and spices; bringing insights from Indian Ayurvedic, Chinese and Greek medicine and Arab healing practices. The traditional Indonesian Jamu vendors are a result of these enormous influences and today these people can be best described as “walking-talking pharmacies”.
Cultural traditions were adopted as the traders traversed the region and one such ritual is the Hammam. With its origins in Turkey, Losari is proud to house South East Asia’s only authentic Hammam, where steam bathing combines functionality with decadent cleansing rituals.

The fragrance of blooming coffee trees can be treasured from the large windows of every Plantation Villa, they all feature a sleeping area as well as living room, all in rich traditional Javanese structures providing inspiration, joy and serenity.
Arum Villa (100 sqm) one bedroom
All Arum Villa's are lavishly furnished with traditional Javanese decor and antiques featuring a large Mediterranean bathroom, cozy day-bed and a large balcony overlooking the spectacular Central Java mountains.
Ambar Villa (135 sqm) two bedroom
The sleeping area of the spacious and beautifully appointed two-bedroom villas comes with an oversized master-bedroom and a single bedroom, a configuration that can comfortably accommodate 3 adults or two adults and two children. Every villa is complimented with a dining room, large sitting area with a cozy day-bed, whilst the master room features a beautiful four-poster bed in solid teak and a bathroom with a sunken marble bathtub and a panoramic verandah.
Bella Vista (600 sqm) 5 bedroom
This extensive compound is home to three connecting villas, which are the authentic royal court from Solo, and two free-standing villas adjacent. This unique and ornate structure is ideal for gatherings of family or friends. It features a private swimming pool which overlooks mountains and lush terrace rice fields and a grand foyer. The MesaStila Club House
The original 1928 coffee plantation Dutch mansion has been totally resorted and furnished with a collection of Javanese antique furniture and paintings. Now called, The Club House, it acts as the Lobby area, Lounge, Library and relaxing space for afternoon tea.
The Meeting Room
A fully equipped meeting room is an old building that was once used as a railway siding and warehouse for steam trains and carriages. Its an excellent space for private functions, group escapes and charming gatherings.
The Swimming Pool
The spring water infinity swimming pool overlooks the jungle and ventures
out towards a mountainous vista.
The Fitness Centre (indoor)
Cardiovascular and resistance equipment are offered in a gym near to the swimming pool.
The Fitness Centre (outdoor)
A specially designed Jungle Gym incorporates a variety of functional pieces of exercise equipment including: high and low bars, balance beams, stability posts, lifting stones, a boot-camp style tyre run, various forms of hurdles, chin-up bars and jumping units. I'm exhausted!
The Losari Labyrinth
Has been designed by a wellness expert and created by a team of local artisans. There are five variations of stone patterns, allowing the "sensation walker" to experience challenges and exhilaration in differing waves and feelings throughout the walk. The large mound-like stones, along the path, represent the eight volcanoes that surround Losari, which is depicted as being the centre of the Labyrinth. The volcanoes are clockwise from the left, facing into the Labyrinth - Sumbing, Sindoro, Prahu, Ungaran, Telomoyo, Andong, Merbabu, Merapi - to get the feel of the power of nature in this space.
